Delly's Deals on Facebook

I wanted to do a quick post reminding everyone to find Delly's Deals on Facebook. Sometimes people ask why I don't update my web site more often; the answer is that I'm too busy posting all day on Facebook!

I only post articles here about 3-4 times per week but I post on Facebook usually at least 3-4 times per day, often many more than that. I also share coupons that you can print on Facebook (I posted three today). Right now, my coupon sharer program makes it a lot easier to share coupon deals on Facebook than here on my website.

Another benefit of the Facebook page is that other couponers post there, too. It's always fun to see what deals others find and  you can also ask questions if something confuses you. There will be plenty of people there to help answer!

Don't be afraid of Facebook. I know some people have fears about joining but I do know folks who have a very simple profile, no photos of themselves or their family and they only use Facebook as a means of connecting with businesses and getting deals and coupons.

Click here to like Delly's Deals on Facebook and I hope to see you there!

You get an extra 10% off if you mention my name (Delly)!

This week on the Delly's Deals Radio Show I shared some Memorial Day Deals. I also reminded everyone that there will not be any coupons in the Sunday paper tomorrow. So take a break, sleep in, and forget about coupons, at least for one day!

* Harris Teeter Saturday special is $97 Capri Suns 10 packs and $.97 Chips Ahoy, limit two for each item. Use this coupon on the chips ahoy and get them for $.47 each!!! Awesome deal.

*Now is the time to stock up on paper plates, charcoal, sunscreen, chips, hotdogs, sodas and any of those types of cookout foods and items. Use the store sales flyer and your coupons for extra savings!

*Free cool whip at Harris Teeter. Go here to the Cool Whip Facebook page and print a coupon for $.50 off 1. It will double, making the cool whip free.

*Family Dollar is offering a $5 off $25 coupon on their web page. Go to www.familydollar.com to print it. They are also running a great sale on charcoal for B1G1 half off and you can combine this with coupons and the $5 off $25 coupon. Also, Pepsi 12 packs are $2.50 each with in-store ad coupon there and Lays Chips are $2.50 each with in-store ad coupon.

*Next Friday is national donut day. Get a free donut at Krispy Kreme (no strings attached) and a free donut at Dunkin Donuts if you buy a drink.

Happy Memorial Day! Let's take a moment to remember those who have died serving our amazing country!

Working the Deals at Family Dollar

We are so lucky here in Southeastern NC to have so many wonderful stores to choose from. Competition is key in making sure that consumers get great prices and deals.

I do know that some of my readers are in areas where grocery stores do not double coupons; that is a shame but great deals can still be had.

One place that is often overlooked is Family Dollar. It is a national dollar store chain but not in the traditional sense. Not everything costs $1.00 and they have many name brand products for sale at good prices. In addition, they do take manufacturer's coupons. They will take up to two coupons per item, provided that one coupon is a manufacturer's coupon and one is a store coupon. They will not accept two manufacturer's coupon for one item. They explain their policy very clearly on their web page here. Family Dollar does not address any sort of limit on the number of coupons that you can use in general. So for example, if you wanted to buy ten packs of diapers and you had ten manufacturer diaper coupons, I presume you could use all ten. They also have coupons available for print on their website, at http://www.familydollar.com/pages/printable-coupons.aspx

Even better is that once or twice a month, they also put $5 off $25 purchase coupons in their store flyer. Note that the $5 off $25 is only found in the Sunday newspaper flyer (occasionally they send it in the mail). If you look for this $5 coupon in the store, you will not find it, so you have to have it ahead of time. Here's a secret- the $5 off $25 coupon is also available for you to print on their website here.

This week Family Dollar had some awesome sales PLUS there was that $5 off $25 coupon inside the flyer. One sale I noticed is Heinz Ketchup (fairly big bottle) for $1.50. After $.50 off coupon from the Sunday newspaper, this makes the ketchup only $1.00. If I'm not mistaken, that is the same price as Harris Teeter this week after the coupon doubles there.

I did a good deal there this week on Luvs Diapers. They were not on sale (if they had been, my deal would have been even better). I needed diapers, however, and I know they are decently priced at Family Dollar, so even though they weren't on sale, I decided to go for it. When I arrived, I was surprised to find $1.00 off LUVS coupons sitting on the shelf! Even better is that they were manufacturer's coupons, so I could either use them at Family Dollar or take them to another store when they go on sale elsewhere.

I decided to buy 4 packs. This is how the deal worked out for me:

4 Packs of LUVS at $7.50 each- $30
4 LUVS coupons for $1.00 each- minus $4
Total so far: $26
Use my $5 off $25 purchase coupon= $21

So I paid $21 plus tax for four packs of diapers (that is $5.25 a pack).

That's a pretty good deal- not the best deal I've ever gotten but certainly better than the usual price. Also, I compared the price to Sams Club and it turns out that the price per diaper is EXACTLY the same! At both stores it is $.15 per diaper. Keep in mind, though, that at Family Dollar there are no membership fees and you can also use VISA credit card (don't know if that matters to some people- I know SAMS doesn't accept VISA credit cards, only VISA debit). I haven't checked WalMart's price on size 4 LUVS, but if you know it, fill me in. I am betting it's higher than the deal I got at Sams Club.

This is a great week to check out Family Dollar, due to the coupon and to the many Memorial Day Sales they had in their flyer. This week, all charcoal is Buy one get one half off; Gain, Tide, Bounty Basic and Bounty are $5, Hefty Trash Bags are 2 for $5, Pepsi Product 12 packs are $2.50 each (with store coupon) and Soft Soap Body Wash is 2 for $5. There are also some clothing sales, too, like buy two get third for $1. Keep in mind that you can still use coupons plus the $5 off $25 on these prices to bring down your total. These sales are available through Monday, May 28th.

Shopping at Family Dollar can be fun and economical! Check them out!

Awesome Deals at CVS- paid $14.07 plus tax for $51.21 worth of products!

I MADE money buying some of these products today at CVS!

When things work out, shopping can be so much fun at CVS!

I wanted to share a trip that I did that you can also do, too, through Saturday night. I bought over $50 worth of products for only $14.07 out of pocket, plus taxes! Even better is that after I paid, I still got $4 back in Extrabucks to use on another order, so it's like I paid $10.07 for all of those products!

This week, many of the coupons from the Raleigh Sunday paper matched sales going on at CVS in their flyer. This made for pretty easy deals.

I split my order into three transactions, so that I could use Extrabucks that I earned from the first two transactions to pay for everything else. The cashier was very nice and did not mind at all, especially since I told her I would be doing this and also let people behind me go before I did a second or third transaction.

This is what I did:

Transaction #1
I paid $12.07 plus tax for these facial products, and after I paid I got back $5 in Extrabucks to spend on a future order!

I bought:

1 Simple Facial Wash
1 Simple Facial Wipes
1 Simple Facial Exfoliator

I redeemed:
2 coupons, each for $1 off of a Simple Product. I got these out of the Raleigh paper. I only had two coupons; if I'd had another, I would have used it, too.

I also had a CVS coupon for $3 off my total order of personal care products or cosmetics. I had just gotten it from the CVS coupon center before I got in line, so it pays to go over and scan your CVS card when you go into the store!

My total came to $12.07 plus tax, but I got back $5 in Extrabucks because CVS was running a promo that said, "Buy $15 of Simple Products and get $5 in Extrabucks back." Before my coupons came off, I had spent $15 worth, so that's why I earned the $5 bonus Extrabucks. Great deal. On to the next transaction!

Transaction #2
I paid only $2.00 plus tax for all of these products!

I bought:

3 Suave Body Washes
12 Suave Lotions 18 oz
1 Irish Spring Mens Deoderant
1 Irish Spring Mens Body Wash

(CVS is running a promo where if you buy 2 Irish Spring products, you earn $4 in Extrabucks (super easy) and if you buy $12 of Suave products, you earn $4 in Extrabucks. My combination of 3 Suave body washes and 2 Suave Lotions added up to $12 before my coupons. You can do your own combo if you want.)

I redeemed:

2 coupons for the Irish Spring products, each for $.50 off, totaling $1.00 off
1 Buy one Get one Free coupon for the Suave Lotions, which took off $3.00
1 Buy 2 get one Free coupon for the Suave body washes, which took off $3.00
1 CVS coupon for $5 off my total purchase (this came from the Extracare center on a previous trip)
My $5 worth of Extrabucks that I had just earned from Transaction #1

My total came to: $2.00 plus tax for 4 body washes, 1 deoderant and 2 big bottles of lotion! Even better is that after I paid, I got back $8 in Extrabucks to spend on my next order! Counting the Extrabucks, I actually MADE $6! Without coupons or promos, the total would have been $24.27. On to the last transaction.

Transaction #3
I paid $0.00 for these Kleenex and still had $4 in Extrabucks to spend left over!

I was sick last weekend and really needed Kleenex. They were not on sale, but I bought three boxes and paid for them with $4 of my Extrabucks that were left over from Transaction #2.

3 boxes of Kleenex came to $3.87. I redeemed the $4 in Extrabucks and paid $0 for them! Actually, I had to pay the $.27 in tax, but that was from the state of NC, not CVS :)

After I was done, I still had $4 in Extrabucks left to spend on another trip. I will save them to use on another purchase.

I hope I explained well how I did this. CVS offers so many promos, some weeks they are so generous, as they were this week. Simply check out the flyer for promos on products that you would use, match your coupons to them, and then use your Extrabucks that you earned to pay for future transactions.

Let me know what kind of deals you find at CVS this week!

Awesome Deal on Name-Brand Sunscreen at Rite Aid!

I got 8 bottles of sunscreen for $3.61 each!
These would have cost $87.92 if I had bought them full price with no sale!

With three children and a pool in the backyard, sunscreen is a valuable commodity around here! One thing I have learned is that the time to get your sunscreen is NOW!

Stores (especially drug stores) are gearing up for summer by offering great deals on many summer products such as bug spray, outdoor items, and sunscreen. To make things even sweeter, the manufacturers have put out coupons to match many of these sales. I can guarantee you that you won't see these deals in the dead heat of the summer; by then, the sales and coupons will be sparse. It pays to get stocked up now before it gets hot and before you end up running to the store on your way to the beach and paying full price. Regular price on most sunscreen is between $8-$11 per bottle. I know some people buy dollar store sunscreen; call me paranoid, but I just don't trust it as much. Besides that, I prefer the spray-on and I have never seen that at the dollar stores. Again, with children, it takes forever to rub sunscreen on, so I really love to buy the easier-to-use spray.

But, of course I don't want to pay full price for it!

This week Rite Aid had several very generous deals on sunscreen. For the record, CVS did, too, but by my math the best deal was at Rite Aid. I will explain below how I got eight bottles for about $3.61 each!

I had to do two transactions. The reason is that I earned +UP rewards (Rite Aid money) off the first transaction, which I then applied to the second transaction to help save on my second purchase.

Transaction #1
First, buy 6 bottles of Banana Boat and use 3 $1 off coupons.
After paying, you will get back $10 in +UP rewards to use on another shopping trip!

This week at Rite Aid, buy $30 worth of Banana Boat or Hawaiian Tropic Products and get $10 in +UP rewards back.

Banana Boat Sunscreen is ALSO on sale for B1G1 free this week at Rite Aid- makes the deal even better!

I bought 3 bottles of Banana Boat Spray Sunscreen for $10.99. I got 3 more for FREE, since they are on B1G1 free sale through Saturday. $10.99 x 3= $32.97, so I have now met the $30 requirement to earn my $10 +UP reward.

I also applied 3 coupons for $1.00 off one bottle. I had six coupons but you can only use one coupon per set when you're doing buy one get one free at Rite Aid.

After sale and coupons, my total was $29.97 plus tax. I then got back $10 in +UP Rewards to use on my next order, so it's almost like those 6 bottles cost me $19.97!

Transaction #2
Second, buy two Coppertone Sunscreens and use the $3 off 2 coupon from the Sunday paper. You'll owe $2.98 plus tax AND after you pay, you'll get $4 back in +UP rewards to use
at Rite Aid on another shopping trip!

I then bought two bottles of Coppertone Sunscreen. Coppertone is on sale this week at Rite Aid for $7.99 (regularly it costs $10.99). I had coupons for $3 off 2, plus Rite Aid has a promo where if you buy a bottle of Coppertone, you earn $2 +UP rewards per bottle, limit 2 rewards.

So, I bought two Coppertone for $15.98 and then used my $3 off coupon, making the total $12.98. I then used the $10 in +UP rewards from the first order I did and applied it to this payment, making the total $2.98 plus tax for two bottles of Coppertone! As if that weren't enough, after paying, I got back $4 in +UP rewards, so I really made $1.02 off that second transaction. How awesome is that?

In the end, I got $87.92 worth of sunscreen for only 32.95 plus tax AND had $4 in +UP rewards left to spend on my next trip.

+UP Rewards look like this. They are basically money that you can use at Rite Aid on future purchases, with some limitations (like tobacco, alcohol, lotto).
They are attached to the end of your receipt, so be sure to look!

Now my only dilemma is estimating how much sunscreen we'll go through this summer! By the way, if you want to do these deals, the coupons were in the last two Sunday papers, Raleigh editions. You can also find some online by searching with my coupon database above. I also saw some sunscreen coupons in the Red Plum E-book of printable coupons, too.

Even if you have no coupons, you can still take advantage of the awesome sales right now (especially the B1G1 free at Rite Aid) and also the promos that are being run (such as the buy $30 and get $10 +UP rewards back).

Don't get caught without your sunscreen this summer! You have until Saturday night to get these deals.

Lowes Foods Produce Club- Get Fresh Produce All Summer!

I am really excited about trying the Lowes Foods Locally Grown Club. I think it's a great way to get locally grown produce at a reasonable price. The nice thing is that you get a variety of produce each week AND you're helping out local farmers. You even get a card in the box that tells the name and location of the farm that you're buying from.

You pick up your box weekly at Lowes Foods and each box contains at least 12.5 pounds of 6-10 different items, so you get to try out a variety of produce. The boxes not only contain the history of the farmer but also recipes to help you enjoy the produce.

Generic image; not from Lowes Foods.

Cost varies between $25-$29 per week and a discount is given for the more weeks you commit to. Commit to 1 week for $29 per week, 3 weeks for $27 per week, or 6 weeks for $25 per week.

I always recommend having a monthly grocery budget and I think that committing $25 per week for fresh, local produce is extremely reasonable. That's only $100 per month of your grocery budget and you're getting the convenience of having the local produce ready for you each week. I also like the idea that the box may come with vegetables or fruits that I haven't tried and recipes, too. Sometimes it's nice to try something new, especially for my children. It's good to let them sample a variety of produce. For instance, my kids LOVE broccoli, a vegetable that I NEVER ate growing up! I'm glad that I let them try it or I wouldn't have known.

One idea that a lady gave me is to go in on a box with someone you know, maybe a neighbor or child or parent. This way, you cut the cost but still support the program and get the produce.

The program starts June 8th and lasts for three months through September 8th. Box pickup takes place each Saturday and you can even adjust for weeks that you will be on vacation. The earlier people commit, the sooner farmers can make arrangements and have an idea of how many boxes to prepare for.

Star News versus News and Observer

Good morning! This week I found two inserts in both the Raleigh and Wilmington newspapers. There was a Smart Source and a Red Plum in each. Let's take a closer look at exactly which coupons came in each paper.

Thanks to a thunderstorm (and the fact that my husband had to leave for work at 7:30 a.m.), I was up bright and early this morning for the start of Triple Coupons Week.

I am really pleased with the sales I see; I'm glad that I started early this time because I think I will have to make lots of trips this week! Since I can only triple 20 coupons per day, I used twenty today and will go back tomorrow and do more. There were so many other deals that I was just dying to get, but I'll have to wait!

The 100% FREE deals were few and far in between but there were MANY items that were less than 50 cents, which I am more than happy with.

In the end, my total was $5.53 plus tax, which is higher than I calculated. I actually think the cashier missed some coupons because I only counted 16 on my receipt when I know I handed him 20. I would know for sure had I not committed a cardinal sin of couponing- leaving the register when they are scanning coupons! I forgot an item and ran back to get it while he was scanning, thus missing watching him scan each coupon. I normally watch each one scan for mistakes and recommend that you do so, too. So, since I couldn't really prove it, I decided to be happy with my $5.53 plus tax for 24 items!

Check out some of the details below!

Grand Opening of Leland Lowes Foods

I know I have many readers and radio show listeners who are eager for the new Lowes Foods to open in Leland. Starting tomorrow, you will wait no more!

I am a big fan of Lowes Foods recently, especially since they have been stepping up their game and competing with Harris Teeter. Lowes Foods prices have been very competitive and they even started offering Super Double Coupons once in a while. In addition, like Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods doubles coupons every day of the year, provided that they are $.99 or less and up to twenty coupons per day.

I really enjoy the selection of items at Lowes Foods, particularly their deli and fresh foods section, which I find to be one of the best. The new Lowes Foods will also have frozen yogurt and single-serve desserts.

If you'd like to drop by and check it out, they will have special events including a prize wheel, samples and gift card giveaways from Wednesday-Friday. Click here to see details about the schedule of events. The location is super easy to find; take HWY 17 South and you will run right into it, on the left. It is located in the Brunswick Forest area and there is a sign off the highway so you shouldn't miss it.

Maybe I will see you there!

Triple Coupons Week Coupons to Print

If you visit my Delly's Deals Facebook page, you will see where I posted 10 great coupons that you should print today. These are all coupons that will triple at Harris Teeter next week, starting tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

If you want additional coupons, look to the left here on my website and you will see a coupon center (I think it only works if you're using Internet Explorer. Click "See all coupons" and it will take you to where you can see all the coupons that are currently available for printing. There are so many! Don't miss out on these extra savings, especially if the coupon triples

Finally, keep in mind when printing coupons that it pays to have discretion. In other words, don't get excited and print everything, including coupons that you may not use. I only print the coupons that I'm sure I will use, particularly if it's a product that I've used in the past and enjoy. If you print all the coupons, you will be wasting your printer ink.

Share your deals all week long and check in on the Delly's Deals Facebook page for triple coupon week news! Share your deals there for a chance to win a prize!

Star News versus News and Observer

Happy Mother's Day! I slept in a bit today but when I woke up I was happy to see that my husband went out and grabbed the newspapers for me!

I was very pleased with this morning's coupons. Both newspapers had all three inserts that were due- Smart Source, Red Plum and Proctor and Gamble. No inserts were missing for me this week! I also felt that the selection of coupons were very good. There are LOTS of household type product coupons this week, so even if you don't coupon for food purposes I think you would find many of these coupons useful, especially with triple coupons week coming up. Take a look at the full list below!

As usual, Raleigh has a better variety of coupons. All coupons that were in the Wilmington paper were also in the Raleigh paper, with the exception of Luster White and Luster Now.

Again, Raleigh had a much better selection overall. Only two coupons (in Red) were found in the Wilmington that were not in the Raleigh.

I will not list the Proctor and Gamble coupons; they are the same in each paper. Suffice it to say, there were many that will make for great deals such as the Gain Dish Detergent, Laundry Detergent and others. These should triple next week.

Until next week......

Triple Coupons Week Starts This Wednesday!

Harris Teeter just keeps the fun coming! Triple Coupons week will start this Wednesday, May 16th. This means that Harris Teeter will triple up to 20 coupons per day, provided that the coupon is less than $1.00. So, $.25 will triple to $.75 off, $.50 will triple to $1.50 off, and $.75 will triple to $2.25 off. You can do this every day until the sale ends the following Tuesday night!

See my post "How I Prepare for Triple Coupons Week" to see exactly how I like to prepare.

Also, Jenny from Southern Savers has posted the first Triple Coupons List of possible deals. Remember, we don't really know if the deals will pan out until the ad comes out on Wednesday but this is a good indicator of what to look for and what coupons to start pulling. She usually does two other lists before the week is over.

Be sure to share your deals all week on the Delly's Deals Facebook Page! I'm sure we'll do a fun promo/giveaway next week in honor of Triples!

FREE Shipping on All Binders through May!

Our Delly's Deals couponing binders are the best way to shop and organize yourself in style. Once you shop with a binder, there's no turning back! I love having my binder with me and seeing all of the coupons as I shop. I am able to easily match sales to the coupons and love how it sits on top of the grocery cart, hands-free.Our binders zip closed, have a BIG 2-inch ring and sturdy handle, making it super easy to carry.

I sell the binders locally but also offer them online here for those who may be in other areas. We wanted to do something special for Mother's Day and decided that we would offer FREE shipping ($5.99 value) through the entire month of May! If you live in an area outside of Wilmington, NC, this is a great opportunity to save on shipping.

The free shipping is USPS; if you'd like to upgrade to FedEx, you can do so for only $5.99, although I notice the Postal Service has been delivering pretty fast- normally within 2-4 days.

Finally, for those who are local, if you would like to meet me to pick up a binder or related accessories, they are 10% off (local pickup only) through the month of May. What a great opportunity to save! Click here to get yours today!

Best Deal on Milk and Eggs This Week

I wanted to share that if you need milk and eggs, Harris Teeter has the best price that I've seen so far this week. Milk is $2.97 per gallon and eggs are $.97 per dozen through May 15th.

Note that these prices are better than WalMart, Sams Club or Costco prices. I have found that buying on sale at the grocery store tends to be a better deal than anywhere else.

About every two weeks or so, Walgreens puts their milk on sale, too, usually for $2.99 per gallon.

By the way, milk CAN be frozen. Just pour a teeny little bit out so that it doesn't explode.

I'm not sure that I have a tip for making eggs last past their expiration date, but if you do, feel free to share it with me!

Good morning!

Today I found only one Red Plum insert in my Raleigh paper but both Red Plum and Smart Source were present in the Wilmington newspaper. Let's compare the two and see which is a better deal today.

Delly's Deals Radio Show Notes

Thank you to our show sponsors, I Am Salon and Day Spa, Indoor Mechanical Service and Memories of a Child. All May they are offering B1G1 half off gift cards. Also, Indoor Mechanical Service is offering a $45 tune up special for your heating and air unit, which is an awesome deal, so be sure to call them. You get an extra 10% off if you mention my name (Delly)!

Today on the Delly's Deals Radio show, in honor of Cinco de Mayo and all of the Cinco de Mayo sales, we gave away a $50 gift certificate to I Am Salon and Day Spa. Congrats to Jamie for winning that, just in time for Mother's Day! If you haven't yet gotten a Mother's Day gift, check out their Buy one get one half off gift card special!

This is a great week to stock up on items such as chips, dip, tortillas, salsa, guacamole, and seasoning packets (I got McCormick Taco Packs at Harris Teeter last night for B2G3 free ($.36 each). There are many matching coupons for these items right now, such as the $.75 Grande coupons that make Grande chips free at Lowes Foods. Also, Tostitos and Frito Lay offered great coupons in last week's paper that make those products a good deal, as they are on sale. Pace Picante has salsa on sale at Harris Teeter and along with the matching coupons the salsa ends up being $1.50 each. Not bad. Wholly Guacamole is on sale at Harris Teeter. Go to the Wholly Guacamole website or Facebook page to print some coupons from them. I printed two coupons for $1.50 off, which made it a great deal.

Also, don't forget the Proctor and Gamble $10 VISA giftcard promo going on this week at KMart and Harris Teeter. Check out my post explaining the promo and some of the great deals that I got on diapers and dental floss. But you can get other items, too, such as Charmin, Bounty, Iams Dogfood, etc. so be sure to take advantage.

Don't forget your Sunday paper tomorrow! There could be up to two inserts- one Smart Source and one Red Plum.

Finally, I have a workshop coming up on May 26th. Call 338-4875 to RSVP or click "Couponing Workshops" at the top of my page to see details and to register.

Have a great week and Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
