Calling All Stockpilers- Help a Local Family

It has been on my mind to post this for several weeks now. I mentioned it on the radio show but this is the first post I have done.

Recently, a family that I knew personally lost their home in an apartment fire here in Wilmington in the Northchase Apartment Complex. The fire started in another unit and quickly spread. My friend, Melissa, escaped with her car keys, purse and two young children. In, all, twelve families were displaced.

Her children are playmates with my children. In fact, the day of the fire, she had just come over to my home to drop off three bags of clothes to give to my daughter. Her husband is a Fed Ex driver and they also have two older children. They are great people and are having to start completely over after this fire. What was not damaged by the fire was ruined by smoke, water damage and the subsequent mold and mildew that ensued in the days after the fire.

If you are at all able to donate a few items from your couponing stockpile, it would be so helpful, as their food was also ruined. I know that so often as couponers, we are extra-prepared and have items that we intend to use for the future. What a great opportunity to use our couponing to help others!

There are two ways to donate: Drop off at Memories of a Child Resale Store, at 6932 N. Market Street in Wilmington. They are easily found in the Food Lion Shopping Center behind the Aarons and Waffle House. This location is convenient to Hampstead, and North Wilmington.

The second option is to email me at delly@dellysdeals.com and let me know if you'd like for me to pick up items for you if you cannot make it to Memories of a Child. I will be scheduling a day to drive around and pick up collections of food and also any clothing (I know their daughter could use size 5/6 clothes).

I have already gotten a few generous donations and hope to receive more, as the family has expressed they will gladly share any excess items with the other eleven families who were affected.

Thank you in advance and I know they will be so appreciative!

My Favorite Triple Coupons Deals!

I paid $11.58 for these items: 2 Pampers Baby Wipes 72 count, 1 Marzetti Southwest Veggie Dip, 8 pack of Johnsonville Sausage Patties, 2 Packs of Dole Fruit Crisp (only one pictured because my son ate one), Coffeemate Natural Bliss Creamer, Archway Ginger Snaps Bag, Minute Maid Pure Squeezed OJ 59 oz.

This morning I made a quick trip to Harris Teeter for the first day of Triple Coupons week. I got there at around 9:45 a.m., so some of the things I was hoping to grab were already gone (pregnancy seems to have taken away my ability to be an early riser :)). I did grab a couple of deals though and plan to go back for more later in the week!

I spent: $11.58 (pre-total was 29.88), so I saved a little over 60%. I aim for saving at least 50%, so I was happy.

Pampers Wipes- $.64 after .$75 coupon tripled
Coffeemate Natural Bliss- .54 after .55 coupon tripled
Minute Maid Pure Squeezed Orange Juice- not on sale, but I had a $.75 off coupon- final price-  $1.44
Dole Fruit Crisp- not on sale, but I love these. After $.50 coupon tripled I spent  $1.09 each
Johnsonville Sausage Patties- not on sale but after $.75 tripled, they were 1.64 which is good

Overall, this definitely wasn't my most impressive grocery trip ever, but I hope to make a second trip later. Hopefully some of the items I want will be in stock!

Neosporin Freebies and Money Maker at Walgreens

Did you notice the FREE Neosporin deal going on Essentials Trial Pack Deal going on right now at Walgreens? I think Neosporin is something that pretty much everyone can use so I was excited to see this deal. Here's how it works.

The trial pack is on sale for $12.99. You can use this coupon to get an additional $5 off! So at the register, you will pay $7.99 plus tax.

Then, there is a simple rebate form to print online at www.neosporinessentials.com/freebate. Go there, print and fill out the form and mail it in by April 15th and you will receive a rebate check in the mail for $12.99. Thus, you come out $5 ahead, having made $5 on the deal.

It is a little extra work than normal, having to deal with the rebate, but to make $5 off the product I will probably go through with it! Be sure to get a rain check if they are out because you can still do this deal and pay the sale price next week if you grab that rain check.

One question I always get is, "Will the company give me the full rebate even though I only paid $7.99? Won't they only refund me $7.99, then?"

My experience with these rebates has been that I always get the full price regardless of any coupons I redeemed. So, unless this time is different, you should still get the $12.99 back, even if you use a coupon to pay less than that.

Let me know how it turns out for you!

PS- Other Walgreens freebies this week include The 14-day Acai Berry Fat Burn Cleanse. Pay $10 and Walgreens will immediately give you a $10 Register Reward back at the register.

Also, get free Mars candies (single size 1.1 to 2.17 oz) such as Snickers or M&Ms. They are on sale 2 for $1, so you must buy two. If you use $1.00 off 2 coupon from Sunday's paper (March 18th), you get both candy bars for free!

Reach toothbrushes and toothpastes are on sale for $.99 (if you give them the in-ad coupon found on page 12 of the Walgreens flyer) so after I use the $1.00 off coupon from the March 4th Red Plum insert, those will also be free.

Finally, I will probably grab the Carefree pantiliners, as they are on sale for $.99. After I redeem my $1.00 off coupon from Sunday's paper, they will also be free.

Star News vs. News and Observer

Good morning! Daylight savings time had me missing in action last week! I got up late and by the time I arrived to the store there were no Raleigh papers left! So I did not do a review last week.

This week I was up and at it again and I found two inserts in each newspaper- both had a Red Plum and a Smart Source. As usual, the Raleigh newspaper had more of a variety than the Wilmington paper but you can decide for yourself if it's worth the extra hassle of going for the Raleigh paper today! Below are what coupons I saw in each.

Raleigh Red Plum had coupons for the following:

Catherines plus size clothes, Loreal Paris Skincare, Loreal Paris Revitalift, Loreal Shade of Preference, Suave Body Lotion, Suave Naturals (Mens or Kids Body Wash), Suave Deoderant, Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smoothing Kit, Suave Professionals Styling Product, Suave Professionals Shampoo or Conditioner, Suave Scalp Solutions, Starburst, Life Savers or Jellybeans, Quaker Chewy Granola Bars, Dipps or Smashbar, Mars Easter Products, Pringles Cans, Pringles Snack Stacks, Sundown Vitamins, Domino Sugar, Domino Brown or Confectioners Sugar, Domino Agave Nectar, Alka Seltzer, Nivea, Purina Friskies Treats, Purina Friskies Plus or Indoor Wet Cat Food, Purina Friskies Canned or Pouches Cat Food, Purina Mighty  Dog Food, Covergirl Lip or Eye Product, Covergirl Tone Rehab Foundation, Gain Laundry Products, Scope, Season Skinless and Boneless Sardines, Jimmy Dean Bowls, Mardi Gras Napkins.

Wilmington Red Plum had coupons for the following: (Blue only)

As you can see, the Wilmington Red Plum was pretty sparse; however, neither was too exciting for me this week as I noticed they were loaded with pet food coupons and hair and make up product coupons that I do not use. Maybe you do, though! On do the Smart Source!

Raleigh Smart Source Insert had coupons for the following:

The Wilmington paper did have two coupons that were not included in the Raleigh paper- Shredded Wheat and Grape Nuts! So if you want those coupons be sure to get the Wilmington paper. Otherwise, Raleigh definitely has more coupons.

Until next week......!

Delly's Deals Weekly Radio Show Notes

Thank you to our show sponsors, I Am Salon and Day Spa, and Memories of a Child. Please support these local businesses as they help make the Delly's Deals Radio Show possible! Also, check out the March specials from I Am Salon and Day Spa. Memories of a Child has TONS of great warm weather clothes right now, so if you need spring and summer wear for your kids, as well as water gear, be sure to drop by. You get an extra 10% off if you mention my name (Delly)!

Today on the Delly's Deals Radio Show our main topics were Triple Coupons Week and Budgeting.

I suggested that everyone start with a budget. That way, you know whether you are accomplishing your monthly goals regarding spending. If you are a beginner couponer, your budget can be a little higher and you can work to lower it.

One suggestion is $100 per person in your family per month. So if there are 2 people in your family, your budget would be $200 per month for groceries. I have a separate eating out budget.

You could make it your goal to lower it to $75 or even $50 per person per month, which will be easier as you build a stockpile of deals.

Other topics:

Triple Coupons Coming up Next Week on Wednesday at Harris Teeter! Click here for Jenny's first list of all the great deals and start pulling those coupons. I place mine in an envelope labeled "Triple Coupons."

I shared some of my favorite drug store deals of the week. I got the Zyrtec and Coke from CVS, and Schick Razors and Rite Guard Bodywash from Walgreens. See my previous posts for explanations.

If you are interested in hosting a couponing workshop for your church or group, give me a call! You may be able to earn a couponing binder as well as money for your group!

If you'd like to see all the deals for Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Lowes Foods, CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid, go to www.southernsavers.com for a list of deals and coupon matchups!

Easy Walgreens Deal- $.24 Right Guard Total Defense Men's Body Wash!

Here's an easy deal that you can grab through today at Walgreens. Remember, if they are out of an item, grab a rain check and do the entire deal another week.

First, you need to print TWO copies of this coupon. The coupon says $2 off 2 Total Defense Anti-Perspirant, Deoderant, or Body Wash.

Then you need to buy FOUR of the body washes. They are on sale for B1G1 Free, so you will get two of them for free.

Your total will ring up to $4.98 (not sure if this includes tax) but you will then get back $4 Register Rewards from Walgreens! You can use those towards something else in the store on your next trip or immediately.

I love it! I plan to do the Schick Razor Deal (see previous post) and then use those Register Rewards to pay for my body wash! Or I may do it in reverse- either way I earn $4 in Register Rewards when I'm done. Also, seeds are on sale at Walgreens this week so I hope to grab a few packs for my garden!

I'll update on how the deal turned out once I've done it! Thanks to Whitney from Kouponing with the Kerlers for pointing out this great deal.!

Walgreens- Cheap Razors Abound- Get Yours this Week!

One of my favorite things about doing drug store deals is getting nice, quality, name-brand razors for a fraction of the normal cost. In fact, I like to joke about how before I couponed, my husband got the cheap-o dollar store razors! Now that I coupon, there are times where I pay less than a dollar for the fancy razors!

Walgreens has a great deal on razors this week. It's even better if you have a coupon or if you have Register Rewards from last week that you can roll over into the transaction for this week. Below is an explanation of the deal:

Schick Hydro Razor (men) or Schick Hydro Silk (women) is on sale for $9.99

When you buy one, you get back $4 in Register Rewards (Walgreens money) that you can spend on a future purchase.

You can also use a coupon from the newspaper to bring down your out of pocket cost. There was a $2 off the mens and a $4 off the women's razor in the Feb. 26th Smart Source Coupon Insert from the Sunday paper.

So here's what the transaction looks like:

Women's Razor
$9.99
minus $4 off coupon
$5.99
minus my $5 in Register Rewards from last week
$.99 for the razor!
After I pay, I will get back $4 in Register Rewards! So I have made $3.01!

Men's Razor
$9.99
minus $2 off coupon
$7.99
minus my $5 in Register Rewards from last week
$2.99 for the razor!
After I pay, I will get back $4 in Register Rewards! So I have made $1.01!

You can save the $4 in Register Rewards that you earn this week for next week or redeem it immediately for something else that you need.

Final note- you can do this transaction as many times as you want at Walgreens, provided you don't use the same Register Reward that you earned for the razor to try to earn another razor Register Reward. If you do, it won't print out! So you may want to alternate transactions.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email at delly@dellysdeals.com!
