Star News vs. News and Observer!
The first weekend of the month is a great time to get coupons!
Today's Wilmington Star News newspaper had four inserts- Red Plum, Smart Source, Proctor and Gamble, and a special Pepsi Moments to Save insert. They proudly displayed $148 value on the front cover of the newspaper!
The Raleigh Star News had only two inserts- a Red Plum and a Smart Source. I did not see the Proctor and Gamble nor the Pepsi Moments to save, and I looked through several papers. The two inserts that were present were fairly thick and full of coupons.
The Moments to Save TM insert from Wilmington paper was nice; it had $20 worth of coupons for things like Tostitos Chips and Salsa, Frito Lay Chips, Trop50 Juices, Lipton Iced Tea, Starbucks Frapuchinnos, and Quaker Cereals and Oatmeals. Oatmeal is on sale this week at Lowes Foods, so I'm looking forward to stocking up on those. Actually, Lowes Foods is running a Moments to Save TM sale on all the products that match up to the Moments to Save TM sale coupon booklet in the paper today, so check it out!
The Red Plum insert was definitely thicker in the Raleigh paper. There were more coupons in it, such as lots of Dove coupons. This week, Harris Teeter is running a promo on Dove where you get $5 off instantly at the register if you buy $15 worth of Dove, Unilever Products. You only have to meet the $15 BEFORE coupons! So that means you could buy $15 worth of products, then use the coupons from the Raleigh paper (many will double) to lower your total and you will STILL get $5 off at the register! My kids have sensitive skin and we have to use Dove, so I plan on stocking up. It is so expensive if you have to buy it when it's not on sale or running a promo. Dove products for men also count and there were coupons for it.
Other coupons from the Raleigh Red Plum that I liked were $.75 off Snuggle Fabric Sheets, which I love to use and $1.00 off All detergent. I did not see the Snuggle coupon in the Wilmington Red Plum insert.
On to the Smart Source inserts. The Smart Source insert in both papers was a real gem today! Actually, looking through the Smart Source insert made it feel like fall (might be the weather, too). I saw lots of baking needs coupons today, such as Reynolds Wrap, Eggland's Best Eggs, Baking Cuups, Baking Powder. I also saw the Ricola cough drops and Little Noses saline drops, which are invaluable when my kids have colds. Also in Smart Source were Franks Red Hot Sauce, Tyson Chicken Strips, Campbell's Soup, Swanson's Chicken Broth, Viva Paper Towels (EVIC special this week at Harris Teeter so with coupon it's only $3.77), Cottonnelle toilet paper, 2000 Flushes and SO MANY more! The Raleigh paper had slightly more Smart Source coupons but both papers had a good variety.
Today I bought two of each paper, due to the huge variety of coupons. Be sure to check your sales flyers at your grocery stores this week and next, because I imagine there are going to be a lot of coupon match-ups coming from these newspapers today!
Until next week......
