3 Catalina Deals I Did this Week

A "catalina coupon" refers to the long, rectangular shaped coupons that print out at the register after you pay. The machine they print from is a "Catalina Machine," and therefore, people refer to the coupons as "Catalina Coupons."


They do not double, but they can range from actual amounts off a specific product to a dollar amount off your next order. Most Catalinas read "manufactuer's coupon" at the top, which means they can be used at any store, regardless of where they came from.


I was surprised this week at Harris Teeter when I received bonus dollar amount Catalinas for three different products that I bought this week. I was not expecting to get this money at the register after I paid, so I was quite thrilled. Here's what I did:

1. I bought 6 Boxes of Kleenex Tissue on sale for B1G1 at $2.59 a box (1.29 each). I also had 2 coupons for $.50 off three boxes, which doubled, so I got $2 off the sale price. After I paid, a Catalina for $1.50 off printed out! This made my total for the tissues $.72 a box.

2. I bought 2 of the Dole Frozen Fruit cups, on sale for $2.50 each. I used two coupons for $.75 off one cup, which both doubled, so in the end I paid $1 each for the fruit cups. After I paid, a Catalina for $1.00 off my next order printed out! This made my total for the fruit cups $.50 each.


3. I bought 3 tubs of Philadelphia Cooking Creme on sale for $2 each. These are normally expensive, so although I had no coupon I was happy to get the sale price. After I paid, a Catalina for $2.00 off my next trip printed out! The coupon also read that if I bought 4 tubs of cooking creme, I would receive $3.00 off my next order. Great deal!

Since everything I bought was already on sale and some items had matching coupons, they were already good deals. The fact that bonus money Catalinas printed out after I paid made the purchases even sweeter!

All three of these deals surprised me- in other words, I had no idea a Catalina would print out after I paid. However, here is list on Southern Savers of current Catalina promos going on across the country. These deals should work at any store, but keep in mind that the list is not flawless. There are other deals out there that may not be listed; for example, the list says buy 2 Philly Cooking Cremes and get $1.00 off next order. But it doesn't list the fact that if you buy 3 Cooking Cremes you'll get $2.00 off or if you buy 4 Cooking Cremes you'll get $3.00 off. So, use it as a guide and to maximize your savings, buy the items on the list when they're on sale and have coupons. That way, when you get your bonus reward catalina it will make the deal even better!
