My First Harris Teeter Super Double Coupons Trip!

Paid only $23.46 for over $83 worth of groceries! Pictured: 2 Welch's 100% Grape Juices, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, 2 Honey Nut Cheerios, 2 Crunchmaster Multi-seed Crackers, Seattle's Best Ground Coffee, Colgate Whitening Toothpaste, 2 Kraft Homestyle Mac N Cheese, 1.29 pounds of Seedless Red Grapes, 2 packs of Jones Dairy Farm Sausage, 1 72 count Pampers Wipes, 1 31 count Size 3 Pampers Diapers, One 32 load Wisk laundry detergent.

Today was the start of Super Double Coupons week at Harris Teeter! During this fun week, Harris Teeter will double coupons that are up to $1.99, up to twenty per day. This means that $1.00 coupons magically turn into $2.00 off and $1.50 coupon turn into $3.00 off at the register. This is an opportunity for big savings!

I had to pick my children up early from preschool so I actually didn't finish my entire trip. I will go back this evening or tomorrow. Today I bought $83.60 worth of groceries for only $23.46. What a huge savings! I used coupons on all items and also redeemed a couple of coupons for $2.00 off and $1.50 off my total order that I had earned earlier this week. Let's take a look at some of my savings in detail:

Freebies:

Gluten Free:

The Crunchmaster Crackers are normally $1.99. With my $1.00 off coupon doubling, they became FREE! By the way, if you can't find them, they are not in the cracker aisle, but near the bread.

The sausage I bought was also Gluten-Free (see below)

Cheapies:
Colgate Toothpaste was $.50 after my $.50 coupon doubled. Normally I get toothpaste for free, so I wasn't super thrilled but it is still a good price.

Jones Dairy Farm Sausage Patties and Links (Gluten-free and delicious) I paid $1.00 after my $2.00 off coupon came off.

Welch's 100% Grape Juice was $1.00 after my $1.00 coupon doubled. This normally costs $4.59 when not on sale!

Kraft Homestyle Mac n Cheese was $1.00 each after my $1.00/2 coupon doubled.

The Wisk Detergent was $2.97 after my $1.00 coupon doubled, since it was on EVIC special.

The cereals (2 Honey Nut Cheerios, 1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and 1 Lucky Charms) ended up being $.60 per box after the General Mills Promo of $2 off came off, plus the $1.00 in digital EVIC coupons, plus the $2.30 in paper coupons which doubled! Excellent price! Be sure to buy four of the promo cereals all together to get the automatic discount of $2.00 off.

The Pampers were on sale for $9.99. Pampers are my favorites but normally I buy Luvs from Target because Pampers tend to be the most expensive, but in my opinion they are the most awesome diapers! I was happy they were on sale AND I had a $1.50 paper coupon which doubled to $3.00 off. I also had a $1.50 EVIC digital coupon which made the final total on my Pampers $5.49 for 31 Size 3 Diapers! That is $.18 per diaper. Let's compare that to SAMS Club where Pampers cost $.23 cents per diaper! See here. So, my Harris Teeter price that I paid is indeed, better.

*Red seedless grapes are also on sale for only $1.29 a pound which is awesome!

Overall, I was happy with this trip and definitely plan to return a few time for the rest of the week! Some things, such as the FREE Nivea Chapstick, were already out. The Honey Nut Cheerios were getting sparse. But I do believe Harris Teeter will re-stock in anticipation of the crowds (by the way, I went to HT Mayfaire and it was very calm- no more shoppers than usual). Maybe Lowes Foods' Super Doubles used up some of people's coupon energy last week!

  1. Delly- I just checked out your blog after seeing you on the news tonight. I'm from California, but in Wilmington for a business trip. It's nice to see that couponing is as prominent on this side of the country too! I love using coupons, and blogs such as yours are so helpful. It's been a big money saver to my family over the last year, and I hope you continue doing what you do! Now, if we could JUST get some coupon doubles in CA, I could pull some great deals like you have here!
